Psalms on My Heart

Pondering an old song of the saints...

"This joy that I have, the world didn't give it to me.
The world didn't give it and the world can't take it away."

Loving the ministry of "spiritual overflow" from someone who is pouring it ALL out in unashamed worship...

Reliving times when a song has made my day in one way or another...

Experiencing again uplifting moments made by the Word of God set to music...

Pondering ...
Psalms on My Heart!

Easton's Bible Dictionary:

"The psalms are the production of various authors ...
It is specially to David and his contemporaries that we owe this precious book.
In the "titles" of the psalms ... 73 are ascribed to David.
Peter and John ( Acts 4:25 ) ascribe to him also the second psalm, which is one of the 48 that are anonymous.
About two-thirds of the whole collection have been ascribed to David."

2 Chron 29:26-30

 "And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.

Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer
And they sang praises with gladness,
and they bowed their heads and worshipped."

Job 35:10

 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Neh 12:45-46

 And both the singers and the porters kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son. For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.

1 Chron 25:5-7

All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the Lord, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

1 Kings 4:30-32

 And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.1 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.2 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

Eph 5:17-20

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Col 3:15-17
 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Lam 3:22-23

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

And, those are just to share a few of them...

Obviously, these thoughts are in no means an attempt to cover the entire topic of Biblical songs...
Just "doodling" a few of my own thoughts today about some Biblical music!
